Nicola Costello graduated from BSc (Hons) Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors, BMus (Hons) double award from the University of Huddersfield.
Nicola has a passion for  British wool and her final  interior woven textile collection centered around the use of British wool exploring the textures and the hues of the French Alps.
This use of British wool continued throughout the entirety throughout her work she researched into the industrial revolution and the history of woollen weaving within Yorkshire, and found the perfect setting for the photography of the collection at Armley Mill in Leeds, which was once the world leader in woollen fabric production.
The Les Deux Alpes collection consists of 19 fabric samples and 2 chairs upholstered with her woven fabric. The samples where created using both the ARM looms and the industrial dobby loom. She was able to source and purchase a pair of vintage Parker Knoll chairs, which entirely suited in the periodic 1950’s style of her fabrics; and had them professionally upholstered with her own industrially woven dobby designs. Her final collection consists of upholstery fabrics, blanket lengths and 3 dimensional contemporary inspired pieces.
Nicola was sponsored by The Worshipful Company of Weavers
Nicola will be exhibiting alongside the other Texprint winners  at Première Vision Designs in Paris. 15th – 17th September 2015
