Stephen Walters are silk weavers designing and producing fabric for international luxury brands. They have built our reputation as design leaders working exclusively with fashion houses across the world. They are recruiting for the following position to join their highly regarded design team:

Textile Designer to work within their creative design team producing CAD representations of their jacquard designs.

The design work is extremely varied and covers a broad range of fabrics from men’s neckwear to contemporary womenswear and furnishings.

They  are looking for a designer with good artistic ability and drawing skills, a sensitivity to colour, a diversity of styles and attention to detail. An understanding of CAD systems would be beneficial but not essential, as full training will be given to the successful applicant. Their design team is currently made up of trained designers from a variety of disciplines such as print, surface pattern and weave. They would like to hear from anyone who is qualified in similar areas.

Hours of work: 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours)
Location: Sudbury, Suffolk
Salary: Depending on experience

With a varied portfolio of works they undertake client led projects for prestigious historical restorations, alongside the high end decorator market. They are looking to recruit a Trainee Sales and Design Assistant to join their team.

The successful candidate will have a degree in woven textile design or have relevant experience in the field. With a professional attitude, the candidate must be able to confidently communicate with colleagues and clients alike. Applicants must have a valid full driving license for client visits. A proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite is desired to carry out office based administration duties. Knowledge of WordPress and social media or a willingness to learn would be an advantage.

Hours of work: 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours)

Training: Full training provided

They are seeking a highly motivated account manager to join their sales team working with international fashion houses and designer brands.

The successful candidate needs to be creative and have knowledge of textiles and the fashion market. They need to be a strong communicator and a commercial awareness is essential. A second language would be useful.

Woven Textile Designer – Vanners: Vacancy filled July 2015

Laura Thomas photoVanners, Sudbury, Suffolk are looking for a woven textiles designer to be the Fashion/scarf assistant at Vanners silk weaving Mill.

The job will be based in Sudbury initially for 2-3 years but the applicant will then have the opportunity to work in the London office as the role progresses. Applicant needs to be outgoing with a strong technical knowledge, good with colour and image and also possess CAD skills, Photoshop or Illustrator for now an we can train them in Texcelle.

The role will be a combination of processing the fashion designs through the mill, working on new collections, colouring designs, working with various finishers, client meetings and liaising with London design office. There will be opportunities for travel to our various markets and trade fairs.

Must possess a keen interest in fashion and colour. This is a growing division so there is great opportunity for the role to expand. Note: Vacancy filled July 2015
